Tiny fingers
wrapped around the blue petals.
She saw her reflection
and smiled.
I watched
absorbed in the moment.
She continued to smile
at the little girl in the mirror
who smiled back.
Content and happy.
And I silently hoped
this is how it would always be.
That regardless of
the years that pass,
the things that change,
the worries that exist,
she will always see her reflection
and smile at the person
looking back at her.
Content and happy.
This is such a sweet post and you captured it beautifully. I have the same wish for my daughter.
Beautiful slice. Here’s hoping that all of our daughters and granddaughters will love who they see in the mirror as much as we love them!
What a beautiful moment and a beautiful wish for your daughter. Content and happy. 🙂
Yes! Yes! Yes!!! Gosh you’re such a good slicer!!!!
What a lovely wish for your little one!
What a beautiful wish! Your poem captures the joy and hope so well.
This post made me tear up, Jennie. The first time that Robby saw his reflection, we sat in front of our bedroom mirror for a half an hour. The BEST.
Yes, that is exactly how we always want our children to see themselves. Beautiful
